We just released the very best version of WP Recipe Maker up until today: version 9.8.0. Read on for the highlights and a full changelog or update right away!

Major Performance Improvements

Your food blog just got faster! Our latest update includes major performance improvements through JavaScript optimization. We’ve been able to significantly reduce the file size of the assets that your visitors need to load, while keeping all of the advanced functionality.

Just exactly how much were we able to optimize things?

Especially the regular assets (the ones that need to get loaded on every page with a recipe) have been greatly reduced and should lead to faster page loading and a better overall site performance.

The reduction of the Recipe Collections asset isn’t as significant, but take note that we only need to load this JavaScript on the page that contains the recipe collections feature itself. The other pages on your site will not need to load this bigger file.

Enhanced “Shop with Instacart” Button

You’ve been able to shop recipes with Instacart for a while, but that button just got a major upgrade because of the new API that Instacart launched. Apart from their improved ingredient-to-product matching, this opens up new features that just aren’t possible with other shoppable recipe buttons at the moment.

One major improvement is that the button now functions on membership-only sites where recipes aren’t publicly accessible. Because of that, Instacart now allows your members to shop any recipes on your site, even when a recipe is dynamically loaded in the Recipe Collections feature.

We also added a brand new “Shop this Shopping List” option, which can be enabled on the WP Recipe Maker > Settings > Integrations page.

When enabled, your users will be able to generate a shopping list through the recipe collections feature, make any adjustments to that shopping list and then simply buy it all through Instacart with 1 click!

New Sharing Buttons

In our Template Editor there are a lot of ways to customize your recipe card template. This now includes 3 new sharing buttons you can add:

  • Share with WhatsApp
  • Share on Facebook Messenger (mobile only)

When you go to “Add Blocks” you’ll find these new options under “Recipe Sharing”:

New icons for those networks were also added to the template editor, including an icon for “X” that could be used to replace the Twitter icon we already had.

QR Codes for your Recipe Collections

On the WP Recipe Maker > Settings > Recipe Collections > Collections page there is a new “Show QR Codes for Recipe Items” setting that can be enabled to give your users an easy way to get back to recipes when they print a particular collection.

When printing a collection, they will be able to enable QR codes to be printed alongside all the recipes, providing an easy way to find the recipes on your site when they need them.

This feature is only available in the WP Recipe Maker Elite Bundle.
